One of the Delta Omega Honorary Memberships bestowed yesterday was awarded posthumously to Ellen C. Gstalder.  Ellen was accepted into NYU’s Master of Public Health program in the Department of Nutrition, Food Studies and Public Health in 2004, the same year she lost her battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Ellen aspired to forge her life experiences in a career focusing on helping others. Through her unique perspective, vitality and compassion, she was driven to improve the quality of life for those challenged by socio-economic diversity or compromised health through restorative nutrition.

Accepting her Delta Omega stole at Thursday’s ceremony were Ellen’s parents, Herb and Bobbi Gstalder, and her sister, Karen Gstalder Dring (photo above).  Ellen’s sister-in-law, Pasqualina Gstalder and her best friend, Lauren Schwabish, were also in attendance.
