Award: NIH – Early Career Researcher R21

Dr. Anat Lubetzky (PI) and Drs. Maura Cosetti and Bryan Hujsak (Co-Is, New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai) and Dr. Daphna Harel (Co-I, Steinhardt PRIISM) received an Early Career Researcher R21 award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Deafness and Communication Disorders (NIDCD). This project aims to answer the following questions: This research will answer the following questions: (1) Are sounds used for balance and if yes, via what mechanism? (2) Do individuals with single-sided hearing loss have a balance problem even without any vestibular issues? (3) Are those with vestibular loss destabilized by sounds? The study will continue for 3 years. Recruitment will begin Summer 2021.
