Overview
We created this Individual Development Plan (IDP) to help you establish and advance personal leadership development goals, as part of the NYU Washington D.C. Global Leadership Scholars program.
The IDP will help you:
- Understand your leadership strengths and areas of growth.
- Set goals you believe will help you improve your leadership capacity.
- Craft a strategy to take action and achieve your goals by the end of the program.
- Evaluate your progress and results.
Making the most of your IDP
The following tips and resources will help you make the most of this experience:
- Growth mindset – This effort must start with you. This process will be most effective if you believe it is important for you, and take responsibility for your IDP- becoming familiar with resources, being prepared for class sessions and meeting with your mentor.
- Emotionally Intelligent Leadership Inventory – Assess your strengths and areas for growth using the results of your Emotionally Intelligent Leadership inventory.
- Mentoring – You will be paired with a mentor who will review your goal and strategy, and offer suggestions. Follow-up with your mentor during regular meetings to stay on track and evaluate your results by the end of the program.
- Peer coaching – In class, you will be assigned to a peer coaching group with a small set of classmates. You will share your IDPs and give one another feedback throughout the semester.
