For this assignment, I went with a conventional equatorial sundial. I found a drum (base?) on the junk shelf that had a perfect hole in the middle to stick a dowel through. So I wanted to rest the weight of the drum on the dowel and create the angle needed by adjusting where the dowel went through the drum. I then went onto BlockLayer.com and got a printed template for an equatorial sundial of the right diameter. I then cut two circular pieces of cardboard to fit into both sides of the drum and cut the time indentations into the cardboard. The finished product ends up being a very normal looking equatorial sundial. I didn’t get to test it out yet since it rained all weekend but once it clears up I do want to capture this sundial in motion.
