Throughout training, you will see the terms Position and Job. This reflects the Staffing model and is also incorporated into the naming of some transactions.
Position
- For employees managed through the Staffing model, Position Management, we use the term Position.
- This Staffing Model is used for Administrative/Professionals, Staff, and Full-Time Faculty.
- On the employee’s record in Job tab you will see the Position.
- This term is reflected in the transaction names. For Example, Edit Position and Create Position actions are applicable to employees in Position Management.
- Positions are mostly Employee Type, Regular, but may be Fixed-Term.
Job
- For employees managed through the Staffing model, Job Management, we use the term Job.
- This Staffing Model is used for Professional Researchers, Post Doc Fellows, Adjuncts, Students and Additional Compensation.
- On the employee’s record in Job tab you will see the Job.
- This term is reflected in the transaction names. For Example, Edit Job action is applicable to employees in Job Management.
- All Jobs are Employee Type, Fixed Term.
