REGISTER 2024

REGISTER 2024

Welcome!  Here’s the link to the page where you can register and make e-payment for the April 10-13, 2024 symposium.

Registration fee (unchanged since 1999): $250 (USD). Students and underemployed persons, $125.
Registration includes access to all symposium events, beginning Wednesday, April 10 ( 7pm reception, 8pm screening); catered lunches and coffee/tea breaks April 11, 12, and 13; closing dinner and drink at MoMI on Saturday 8pm; and (we hope) dinner on Thursday. (Friday is “dinner on your own.”)  Also an Orphans 2024 T-shirt, printed program, and goodies TBA.

Day rates are available for those who would like to attend only one or two days of the symposium. A one-day ($50) or two-day ($100) registration fee grants access to the sessions on the specified day(s), but does not include the catered lunches and dinners.

Questions about registration? Ask event coordinator Cristina Cajulis <cristina.cajulis@nyu.edu>.
Other questions? Ask orphanfilm@nyu.edu (which reaches Prof. Dan Streible, symposium director).

HOTELS:
There is no central “conference hotel,” but the museum has a discount code for the nearby Boro Hotel (18-minute walk to the museum). If you book using the discount code MOMI, the nightly rate will be about $212 excluding taxes and fees. (We find that on random occasions, the website unpredictably quotes lower rates.)

The Hilton Garden Inn LIC is a 20-minute walk and offers similar rates to the Boro, but we have no discount code.

If you peruse hotels.com (or similar sites) sorting by the distance from MoMI and/or by price, the site will suggest other options and often offers discounts. Alternatively, Airbnb still operates in New York, including in and near Astoria (a neighborhood in Queens — but caveat emptor with that platform.

Attendees stay in diverse places across New York and most use the subway to get to Astoria. Subway stations closest to MoMI are Steinway Street (R and M trains) and 36 Av. (N/W).

Transportation options, directions, and logistics are well described at movingimage.org/visit/exploring-Astoria . The museum’s physical address is 36-01 35 Avenue (at 37 Street).
