UPDATE. June 13, 2022.
You can still register to attend the symposium in person. Day-rate is $50 to include food/drink. For locals attending only one session (sans food), no charge.
To WATCH the live-stream online, register on the same site. In the first field, enter $0 payment (or a pay-what-you-will gift). The following day you will received an email with the password. Log in to the Vimeo “live event” page by pasting https://vimeo.com/event/2190360 in a new browser window during symposium hours. Schedule here. Some screenings (7 short films and the 55-minute documentary Women of Suriname) will not be live-streamed due to rights restrictions or, more likely, the nature of sensitive or problematic material.
The program is online for the 13th Orphan Film Symposium, Counter-Archives, which NYU and Concordia University present in Montreal / Tiohtià:ke, June 15-18, 2022.
Yes, we are planning for an in-person gathering in Montréal, Quebec, Canada!
Registration is open to all.
As always, the biennial symposium will begin with an opening night screening on Wednesday, followed by three days and nights of screenings, talks, and discussions among moving-image archivists, scholars, artists, curators, preservationists, tech experts, and others. All events will be in Concordia’s de Sève Cinema. (Here’s a panorama view.)
Attendance will be limited to the 160 seats in the cinema.
Register to make sure there’s a seat for you alongside a few dozens of presenters and other symposiasts from diverse places and backgrounds.
