HOW MUCH SHOULD I PACK?

The NYU Washington, DC bedrooms are furnished with a bed, wardrobe, desk, night stand, and under-bed drawer for every resident to provide closet, drawer, and shelf space.  The NYU Washington, DC kitchens and bathrooms also have drawers and cabinets for additional storage space.  Generally, students who have packed the equivalent to about 2-3 50lb/22.5kg pieces of luggage have a sufficient amount of clothing and other personal items; those who have packed the equivalent to about 4 or more 50lb/22.5kg pieces of luggage have found themselves feeling a little overcrowded with personal belongings in a shared living situation.

WHERE CAN I PARK AT NYU WASHINGTON, DC?

NYU Washington, DC is a LEED Gold building, and part of that certification includes encouraging public or alternate forms of transportation to cars.  As a result, there is no parking available at NYU Washington, DC, but we have a list of nearby parking garages.

HOW DO I PICK UP MY MAIL & PACKAGES?

Mail and small packages are sorted daily and placed into your individual mailboxes in the Resource Center on the B3 level.  Any packages that do not fit in your mailboxes are logged in at the Resource Center and you will receive a confirmation email that your package has arrived.  Packages are available for pickup from the Package Room during its hours of operation.

NOTE: We will only accept mail and packages for current and incoming residents, all other mail and packages will be returned to the original senders.


HOW CAN I SEND MAIL & PACKAGES?

There is a US Post Office located at 1400 L St NW, a FedEx located at 1400 K St NW, and a UPS Store located at 1220 L St NW.


WHAT IF I ORDER GROCERIES OR FOOD ONLINE?

If you order delivery of perishable items, you must be available to meet the delivery company in the lobby of NYU Washington, DC when they arrive.  NYU Washington, DC staff and security will not accept your perishable items on your behalf.


HOW CAN I REPORT A MAINTENANCE ISSUE?

If your facilities issue requires an immediate response, please contact the duty phone number.  Otherwise, please fill out an online work request.


WHERE CAN I PICK UP AND SUBMIT A GUEST PASS?

Guest passes are available 24 hours a day in the Resource Center on the B3 level.  Follow the instructions on the Guest Pass to complete it, and then submit it at least 48 hours in advance to a member of the student life team.


MY DEVICE WON’T CONNECT TO THE INTERNET.  WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Use one of the many computers available to email NYU IT services at askit@nyu.edu.  There are also guest wireless credentials available at the NYU Washington, DC security desk.


HOW MUCH DOES LAUNDRY COST?

You will need to purchase a $4 laundry card from the machine in the laundry room.  Laundry at NYU Washington, DC costs $1.25/wash cycle and $1.25/dry cycle.   You can go online to add more value to your laundry card.  NYU Washington, DC provides complimentary Tide pods and dryer sheets as well as an iron and ironing board.


WHEN SHOULD I CONTACT THE EMERGENCY PHONE?

You should contact the emergency phone for any housing, health, safety, or wellness related emergency.  Examples include a lost ID or keys; fire or flooding; or severe illness or injury.
