My definition of interaction: an instant cyclic process in which two actors alternately listen, think, and speak. Also, I prefer to define interaction as a new interaction, which differs from the traditional interaction. It should be a cyclic process that connects with new technologies and also automatically.
This one does align with my definition of interaction
Introduction: Conventionally film audiences are passive consumers, sitting in their seats, using their eyes and ears to absorb the experience. This installation combines this traditional experience with tracking technologies, machine learning and matching algorithms to turn the experience into a performative physical and personal interaction with the actors on screen. Crossing the boundaries between digital art, cinema, music, dance and computer science there is no longer a divide between the stars and participants and they are able to gesturally control their cultural icons. The boundaries are blurred and the action takes place both on the screen and in front of the screen.
Explanation: There are two actors who interact with each other, the way they communicate is movement. The participants performed and then the virtual star repeat what the participants do. After watching the virtual star’s movement, participants will do new movements. It also occurred me that repeat is also an interaction, because they get the signal that the device can interact with them. There is a way of communication, also this device include a lot of new technologies, like tracking technologies, machine learning and matching algorithms. Moreover, it’s automatic, as long as you stand in front of the device and perform, it will start to interact with you. That is the reason why I think that this device aligns with my definition of interaction.
Explanation: I think that device can’t make sure that the actors will interact with each other. Because it’s possible the balloon will get lost, or the people who get the balloon will not reply( maybe can’t understand because of a language barrier). Thus, I think this program just takes interaction as their aim, but we cannot seriously call it an interactive device. Also, I think interaction should be instant because if it takes a long time, the communication will become meaningless. Moreover, I think the interaction is not done by the device, it is done by some random people, so I don’t think the device is an interactive device.
