#Blog 6: Textiles

During the exercise in class, braided wire was coupled with water pipes and wire. The wire will be tugged and twisted if the pipe’s two ends are pulled together. We used paper tape to secure the water pipe to the water pipe, although a glue gun fix is also an option. Also, we discovered that the rubber used to make the water pipe will cause it to rub against other things quite a bit. Also, it is difficult to adjust the curvature of the thicker water pipe; plastic strips must be used to hold it in place. But because the pipe is hollow inside, it will be intriguing to put other things to it, like liquid. In order to be able to switchably control the “flow” inside the pipe, we reasoned that perhaps we could cram fiber optics inside it and add lights at the end.
