#Blog 3 Interactive Artifacts

1. The Fish of Lijiang:

I want to create robots that can serve as time sense adjustors and company in rehabilitation centers. The materials we use to create them is artificial human flesh and all kinds of electronic components and artificial skeleton. These materials can all be degraded and recycled. Most importantly, they will carry items to conduct either time sense dilation therapy or time sense compression therapy, which should be a secret for the patients so that they wonā€™t realize the conspiracy of the government. The users can tailor their appearance by simply adjusting on the computer like pinching the plasticine, and the flesh part will be 3D printed and be attached to the skeleton. During peopleā€™s stay in the center, they can do anything with the robot, including having sex with the robot to accelerate the process of treatment. The new problems caused by the existence of this invention can be that people may develop real emotional connections with the robots and refuse to send them back to be degraded. However, the robots donā€™t have real feelings and the government wonā€™t allow them to be brought away from the center since it would increase the risk of their conspiracy being revealed.

2.Newtons Sleep:

At the end of the story, people began to see illusions of creatures and objects from Earth. And these illusions are becoming even more real as time goes by. However, people still cannot interact with these illusions. I want to create a kind of floor that can project interactive images according to peopleā€™s minds. When people step on the floor, circuits form between the human body and the floor, allowing the floor to get what people are seeing. According to peopleā€™s view, the floor will pop up images showing the object, creating both visual, auditory, and olfactory experiences. And when people interact with them, they can respond as real ones do. The problem might be that people will be so obsessed with the virtual world and lose track of what is real indeed that they have.

3.The Winter Market:

In this world, people are easily influenced by the pollution of trash and may get into the situation as Lise is in. They have to rely on an exoskeleton to live. However, the exoskeleton is very conspicuous and may lead to heart-breaking discrimination. So I want to create a device that can help people without exoskeleton to experience life as patients with one. This deviceā€™s appearance is like the glass case we get X-ray security check at the airport. When a person stands in front of the device, it will automatically check if the person is above 18 and is capable of making rational decisions by itself. If yes, then the glass door will open to let the person in. Then it will automatically insert anesthetic to make the personā€™s physical condition similar to a patient and add on the exoskeleton. After that, the device will transfer dry dreams of patientsā€™ to the person to let him/her feel the same as them. It can also drag participants into a setting similar to VR where participants receive discrimination. And the anesthetic will lose its power after 6 hours. The problem might be that there are risks that people get actual harm both physically and mentally during the process.
