Bronze Kneeling Statues With Twisted Head
🙏😾🙏
-WHY?
Three bronze kneeling statues with twisted heads have been unearthed from the No.4 sacrificial pit at the Sanxingdui Site, which are identical in size and shape, and presumably belong to the same bronze ware.
Compared with the general style of other bronze wares from Sanxingdui Site, the bronze kneeling statues are different in the detailed and vivid sculpting in terms of human body and clothing. This group of statue modelings is a combination of both realistic and exaggerated style. Why do they look different in artistic style compared with other artifacts? What are they special in? What are their identities? A lot of questions remains unanswered about this group of statues, which arouse my curiosity. Among the three, the one on the right is the one that has been reserved most completely, so it is my focus in this project.
