- What are the precise rules of each of the obstructions?
- 12frames, answers to the questions, Cuba, no set;
- a miserable place, don’t show it; Jorgen Leth is the man; the meal;
- complete freedom or back to bombay;
- cartoon;
- Lars Von Trier will make the last obstruction;
Honestly, I kind of enjoy watching Jorgen “suffering” from coping with the obstructions, because every time such seemingly desperate situations actually always let him find his unique solution. In the first obstruction set for him, he used a lot of jump cuts to satisfy the “12 frame” requirement, trying to make it look less 鬼畜. In the second obstruction, he utilized a white, translucent curtain between him, the Perfect Human, and the miserable Bombay street. Personally, the cartoon one attracts me most, maybe because I watch a lot of maga and cartoon myself. The discussion between Lars and Jorgen shows their dislike of cartoon, but the one made by Jorgen in the end turned out to be special and artistic. However, I somehow find it hard to understand the artists’ mind, like the strange and confusing obstruction given by Lars. Also, while watching, I cannot avoid thinking why did Jorgen chose to introduce these specific parts of the Perfect Human in these specific ways, through these specifically designed camera and editing language.
