Our group designed a fully automatic disinfection and drying machine for the plague, and we got the idea from the novel The Plague. We named our machine IDM( intelligent disinfection machine) ultimately. First, the patient will be tested by a machine to see if he or she is positive. The idea came from the covid19 nucleic acid test. If the patient is diagnosed as positive for the infection, then he will need to be sterilized and disinfected by the machine. He would first go through a long corridor to the first step of the machine. The first step is a shower-head-like rinse machine, the second step is an LED UV disinfection light to help kill the plague virus, and the third step is a dryer. We hope that the machine will help the patient to be physically clean and sterilized, thus helping his treatment. If this machine can be developed successfully, we will be able to detect patients quickly and cure them, thus slowing down the spread of the virus. Our machine was very successful in making a reduced version. Due to limited cardboard, so Daniel and I acted as aisle switches during the performance. However, our machine is still very idealistic and has many problems to be improved. For example, it is a cold and large treatment device, so when the patient walks into it, it will certainly generate fear, how to do to calm the patient’s emotions and reduce his fear is still to be considered. And because it is too large, so it is not conducive to the promotion. Besides, as I mentioned my idea in the Blog before, we need to we need to protect patients from UV radiation.
Our group quickly set up a WeChat group after the recitation class and booked a group study room to discuss and finish the craft together after the National Day holiday.We had no idea what to design at first, so we shared everyone’s blogs and compared them in terms of usefulness and practicality. We set the plague as the general background for our story to take place, and picked my idea ultimately. Our team members worked together to complete the model, I was responsible for sketching and making the LED UV disinfection lamp part, Daniel and Jim finished the shower head and dryer together. Leon wrote the script, Jim played the patient and the narrator, and I, Nomun, and Daniel pretended the machine.I think we are a good team, everyone contributes to the teamwork and the end result presented is good.

Doctor (looking at the schedule): Section 11…… A place of death. How did they possibly survive the plague? Staff（Daniel）: Luck, I suppose. Doctor: That make sense, but I believe in science. All right, bring them in, and get the machine on. The infection test will happen after they finished primary procedure. (Operator1,2,3 starting the machine, patients in) Patient:Hi, doc. Doctor:Hi, welcome to the front gate of Emergency Management headquarters.First I have to test your positivity. Doctor tested the patient, and he was positive. Doctor: Apparently, positive. Now you just need to go through the machine. Patient: Can you save us doctor? Doctor: Yes, and no. Why not ask yourself? Patient: What do you mean? Doctor: Don’t tell me you have no idea about section 11. (Patient silence) Doctor: Now hurry up and get the hell into that machine! (Operators push patients into the machine) (Patients slowly go through the gates) (Patients perform to show how the machine works, use performance not words, but he can say like “I feel water coming down” to indicate the purpose of each gadget.) Staff （Nomun): All the procedures are finished, doc. Doctor: Excellent, bring the next crew in. We still have a lot to do.
