Sound Visualization

The song I chose is When She’s Gone by Josh Fudge.

I can’t download the audio due to the copyright of the platform, here is a website where you can enjoy the music:

I really like this song, so when I was told to visualize a song I came up with it. For me, it’s a very futuristic and technological song, and full of movement. So I associated it with keywords like space, vortex, etc. So I built the basic framework with the word MOTION, creating the feeling of a vortex by twisting and shrinking in the same direction and in equal proportions. The repetition of these words also created a piano keyboard-like stepped effect.

At first, I used a circle of different letters to make the middle swirl, but it was particularly messy and disrupted the visual focus.

See what I got:

Later, in order to echo the bottom text and form a unified whole, I changed the text to a lot of M, and then formed the swirl effect by shrinking and rotating it.

To make it more related to the whole picture, I rotate the whole.

Because the song also gave me a romantic feeling, I filled it with a heart shape, with elements that were already present, namely the letters M and A. This is like a hot air balloon rising from the bottom.

Here, my general design was completed, but it was a bit monotonous, so I made a gradient effect for the text on the far left side, and these were composed of one small letter. And added the white letter A in the black background part.

After communicating with the professor, I realized that I was only working on one layer at the moment, which didn’t give a sense of impact. So, I wanted to build another layer in other ways. I used the letters G, and C to morph, zoom in, and place in the blank space to have the effect of a flower sprouting.

Here is my final work.

But so far, the overall focus of my picture is a bit messy. If I had more time, I would adjust the focus of the image to concentrate on the swirl formation from the bottom left to the top right corner.

(By the way, it is really hard to mount the frame😭)
