Projection Mapping: Class 3
Class Exercise:
this is 3 cats and a fish and a rat
For this class exercise, my group of 3 decided to make our projection revolve around cats because we all love cats! We started off with a large piece of paper and used masking tape (black and white) to make the shapes of our cats. I decided to use black masking tape to make a cat face and a fish. Then we taped the paper onto the wall, and set up the projector to my laptop. It was a little difficult to get the projector in the right position because we didn’t use a mount. After the set up of the projection, we used MadMapper to create mappings over the cats using the color wheel and mask tool. It was a little difficult at first because we didn’t use the cursor tool to see where we were clicking, so it took a lot of shape adjustments until we figured it out. For the background, we used a screen recording of a popping cat youtube video, which was also used as the sound. The projector kept slipping because the table shook so we had to readjust the mapping shapes.
Finding of the Week:
I went to a concert over the weekend and saw a lot of cool lights and visuals, but the video only shows the projection of patterns on each side of the concert venue. The concert was held at Madison Square Garden as part of The Dream Reborn World Tour 2024 for 3 DPR Artists (DPR Ian, DPR Cream, DPR Artic).
