As for the explanation “fluidity of the digital”, my answer is that the meaning of ‘fluidity of the digital’ is simply the opposite of ‘objectivity of photograph’. Just as the author mentioned in the paragraph, from the very beginning, the photograph is the symbol of truth. People wouldn’t doubt the objectivity of the reliability of the photograph. But after the invention of the technology which is similar to PS nowadays, people can adjust the photo. So at a time when not all people are sensitive to the condition that photos are adjustable, the gap between people’s perception of the photo makes the objectivity change. The photo adjusts technology would be used by people to make up the truth of some purpose. It is now a tool to cheat people. We see a lot of examples nowadays in the media. We always see those funny stories on the internet. People who date on the internet would ask for other people’s selfies. However, most people’s selfies are, more or less, ‘PSed’. So, as a result, after the two people decide to meet in person in reality, p
people would find a huge gap in appearance.
For the second question, I think the photo is still the most helpful way to capture reality. As stated by the author, photography is the way people believe to capture reality. From my perspective, photography is like our eyes. We view reality through our eyes. As a result, photography which shares a similar way with us could capture reality. What other techniques do is adjust the reality. In a nutshell, photography is a reality without other adjustments.
