Project I: Feed It & Make It Sing!
This project is a shooting game which people throw the carrots into the feeding basket inside the cage. Underneath the basket is the screen with a rabbit displayed using processing. The player will have to throw in the carrots for a certain times to be able to make the rabbit living in the screen to sing. Every time the carrot is successfully thrown in the rabbit will say “I need more!” until the the user feed enough carrots. When the rabbit in the screen is satisfied, it will sing a melody through the speaker. This project also indicates the circus animals that were forced to live in the cage and later brought up on the stage to perform. Often, these animals were cruelly trained to perform and usually food was used in one of various methods.
Project II: HIIT that Heart Rate
This project is for the young adults who are beginners in fitness and wants to have a HIIT(high-intensity interval training) training. The target heat rate for the HIIT workout is anywhere between 148bpm to 175bpm. In this project, there will be a screen that will show the instructions for each workout the audience have to do while wearing the heartbeat sensor. Beside the screen will be a meter(made out of cardboard) labeled with number of heart rates, and an arrow attached with a servo at the middle, which it shows the current heart rate of the user. The arrow will move closer to the target heat rate when the heart rate of the user increases, and when the user reach the target heart rate, the speaker will play a victory song and the NeoPixel around the meter box will light up. This tells the user the he/she has reached the target heart rate and completed a round of HIIT workout.
Project III: DJ Stick Box
This project is in a form of a box with three bendable DJ sticks with flex sensors, and a screen that visualize the music. Different music affects or songs of a musical instrument will be linked to each of the three DJ stick. When the audience bend a DJ stick, a music or a beat of an instrument(ex: drum) will be played. Depending on how hard the user bend the DJ stick, the pitch or the frequency of the music will change. With three different music elements placed on the box, the audience can compose their own music out of the installation. The screen in front of the box and the NeoPixel set around the box is for the project’s aesthetic and music visualization. The NeoPixel will flash different colors and the screen will rotate the logo with different sets of color depending on the music that the user compose (ex: LEDs flash once every time the user bend the middle stick once).
