Proposal 1:Mind Reader
Of course it’s not truly mind reading. It is adapted from a Chinese street magic performance called:”I know your last name even if you’ve never told me.” Basically the magic acted like this: the magician give the audience some cards, on each of them is several last names, then the audience picked the cards that their last name appeared and the magician could kind of calculate the conclusion. I think I can convert this idea into a digital one. Using cardboard together with Arduino and Processing to make the whole process more lively and interacting. So the project doesn’t have a specific aim, it’s just for providing some interesting interactive experience and try to make the audience feel like “wow”.
Proposal 2: Tarot Divination
For this project, it’s based on some interesting things called the Tarot. The reason why I came up with this idea is because I happened to came across a marvelous novel about this. So maybe I can try to apply the 22 main cards with some different characters, for example, weight, so that I can use sensors to identify which card the audience drafted sending them from Arduino to Processing then use Processing to show some of the consequences, which is decided ahead of time. This project is also mainly for fun and it could also apply some basic knowledge about the Tarot.
Proposal3: Pi Pa Xing
The name is actually a very famous and beautiful ancient Chinese poem. The poem depicts how beautiful a lady playing the Pi Pa, which is a musical instrument similar to a guitar. The poem uses all kinds of metaphors to describe the music and making the music kind of ‘visible’. So what I’m going to do is to use the similar way my classmates used in the mid-term project and use processing to draw some picture that may fit what was played in this music. Maybe I can prepare some melodies and connect them with certain pictures, if the music the audience played resembles one of them, it may show some picture. I want to combine the project with some traditional Chinese Art Masterpieces to make it more meaningful.
