Memory soundscape: pick my memory

To me, one of the most unforgettable experiences in my childhood is to go to the deli store at the marketplace next to my primary school to buy fried food after school. There were lots of different sounds in the marketplace, and they were still quite vivid to me even though 10 years have passed, I could even remember the mixed smell of oil, meat, and vegetables in that market. The marketplace was very busy. Lots of people were walking, and lots of motorcycles, e-bikes, and bicycles were running across the street, there were also lots of children kicking bottles and playing with balls…The soundscape will contain two parts, one part about leaving school after a busy day, and another part about entering the busy marketplace.

All those sounds were the symbol of my ordinary but unforgettable childhood. Some sounds were normal at that time, but we can hardly hear them now, such as paying in cash and giving changes. With the development of e-commerce, the marketplaces are shrinking, and stores are disappearing, even kids who play outside begin to disappear. This soundscape is my nostalgia, is in memory of my precious memory, and the old days we can never go back to.
