For Assignments 4 and 5 in DH_Fa23, I decided to continue expanding my topic in A3 and create a digital exhibition for the Red Plum Pavilion.
In Maya, I constructed a venue in the shape of a plum blossom. I allocated each of the five petals of the plum blossom to four rooms and one main entrance. The position of the plum blossom’s pistil serves as a central pillar, narrating its history.
I initially attempted to design its layout on Cuttle XYZ, assigning each room its intended content. Additionally, I used my feet and height to determine the scale of the walls and floors, as well as the information to be displayed on them.
After having the basic plan, I started to do my work:
Ground/Wall Building:
Integration of Info to Pics: (I did most of this part on Procreate):
Attach Pics to Walls:
Step 1: Lambert-color-file-drag and attach
Step 2: UV Automatic and Modified UV Points and Coverage… 3D Chair in the Video Room (basically a small extruded concrete version of the ground):
Video Embedded:
3D Characters and Archway:
Step 1: PNG Photos converted and expand with pics with paths in Adobe Illustrator
Step 2: Import Ai files to Maya —— Planer ——Convert NURBS to Polygons
Lighting:
Logo:
(An integration of the plaque of the pavilion and the Skyview of the digital exhibition)
Possible Souvenirs:
Plum ring/necklace/keychain/earrings/hairband/pins… of this pattern:
Plum umbrella of this pattern:
Entrance Ticket & wristband:
Adhesive tape:
Demo Video and Effect Sketches of the digital exhibition:
Working Progress Photos:
Takeaways (Suggestions from Prof. Chen):
Try to make it a bigger/open space
Play with the separate petals
Change the texture of walls (e.g. Glass)
I will try to work on them during winter vacation. Tks!
