👽Inspiration:
Inspired by the Four Great Inventions in ancient China, Ting and I would like to introduce to the aliens the formation and application of gunpowder and the two sides of human civilization.
👽First, we drew a flow chart on the left side to introduce the process of making gunpowder.
– Since we noticed that the aliens’ understanding of difficulty is different from human beings, and their cognitive order is completely opposite to that of human perception, our presentation is therefore arranged from result to process to make it easier for them to understand:
-The picture in the center is a finished product of gunpowder loaded into a paper tube to prepare for use.
-The next picture behind it shows the process of loading powdered gunpowder into the paper tube.
-The picture behind that one shows powdered gunpowder.
-The picture at the very back shows when the ancient people were practicing alchemy, the furnace exploded and the powder of gunpowder was formed from it.
-We organized our pictures this way instead of drawing a linear flow chart since aliens perceive things in a symmetrical way.
👽On the right side of the picture, we introduce the aliens to the two main uses of gunpowder: military use and fireworks display.
– According to the linguist in The Story of Your Life, learning the language of aliens or introducing it to them is, in short, communication, and face-to-face interaction is essential. Only in face-to-face interaction can we learn each other’s civilization. So we added both humans and aliens to our picture so that they form an interactive relationship to help the aliens understand better.
– Regarding the military use
We placed cannons all around the aliens. One cannonball hit the alien’s limb. It suffered physical damage. We want to use this to show the lethality of gunpowder as a weapon.
– Regarding the fireworks
We noticed that the aliens have seven limbs and seven eyes. Their body structure is extremely symmetrical. So we guess that they could watch seven fireworks blooming in the air at the same time. Thus, the alien is shown in the center of seven fireworks. And the humans are lying between their limbs. We watch the fireworks bloom together. In particular, the words that form the fireworks are “Hello!” in the language of the aliens. (We know part of the alien language and its writing rules). We want to show the human side of kindness and express the vision of a friendly relationship with aliens.
👽 Conclusion:
Since the aliens are our visitors and we do not know enough about them, it is difficult for us to determine their purpose for coming to Earth. So we can pre-empt it by introducing it to both sides of human civilization. And by doing so, we can test the level of civilization of the aliens and their views on war and friendly interactions to find better ways to further interact with them.
