Prompt 1: New Media Art
In 2007, New Media Art was an art form that incorporated media technologies to display “conceptual sophistication, technological innovation, or social relevance.” In comparison to back then, New Media has the same essential use for developing works of art with new media technologies. The only difference is that technology has advanced immensely, making art more sophisticated. Now there are more devices and programs which can bring our ideas to life and in a more realistic way.
Prompt 2: Art Historical Antecedents, Themes, Tendencies
Work: Roy Lichtenstein, M-Maybe, 1965
M-Maybe is a pop art painting based on a romance comic made by Roy Lichtenstein. He was a leading figure in the new are movement that described pop art as “not American painting but actually industrial painting.” It is contemporary print media that was constructed pixel by pixel.
