Obstruction1:
- Change the film from the original frame rate to 12 frame rate (greatly damaging the coherence and playback speed of the original material);
- Answer all the questions in the original film “The Perfect Man”;
- Shooting in Cuba (a completely foreign country);
- Set cannot be set
Jorgen went to Cuba and selected a beautiful Cuban dancer and a local Cuban man. He uses constant repetition to depict the perfect person’s eyes, smoking, or lying in bed. He added answers to the questions in his lines and answered them from the perspective of life philosophy, such as love.
Obstruction2:
- Go to a miserable place, but it cannot be displayed (challenging Rice’s morality);
- Instead, it is necessary to complete the feast in the original film (in that tragic place);
- The role in the original film is absent, and the director can only perform by himself.

Jorgen went to Mumbai and set up a transparent white cloth in the red light district. In front of this white cloth, Jorgen is wearing a delicate suit, eating western food, and drinking wine gracefully. Behind the white cloth stood people from the slums of India. They were ragged, and their eyes were empty. They were like two worlds with the people in front of the white step, which undoubtedly showed the misery of this place.
Obstruction3:
- Because Jorgen did not abide by the rule of “can’t show the scene” in the second challenge, Lars gave the condition that either he should go to Bombay to reshoot it or he should no longer set restrictions and remake his film
Jorgen used split screen video this time, and there was a specific connection between the pictures, either intentional or continuous plot. This film is more like a modern film, very trendy. In one scene of the play, some white chairs are moving at will and frozen. Jorgen wants to express a sense of freedom and freedom in this way.
Obstructions 4:
- Make a cartoon – two directors in the film hate and are not familiar with cartoon production
Jorgen is cynical about comics. He thinks that this form is too much of a publicity stunt. But he has done great work. In the state of comic strips, he perfectly restored the image of the perfect man in the original documentary. He skillfully uses black shadows to create infinite imagination space for people.
Obstructions5:
- Use the original version of “The Perfect Man.”
- Jorgen should read the narration written by Lars.
This time, it seems to use Jorgen’s first-person perspective to express some words Lars said to Jorgen, which is very touching. He expressed his admiration for Jorgen and his hope to break through himself step by step without being bound by the framework and try something he had never tried before.
I saw a lot of self-transcendence in this film. Lars appreciates Jorgen’s talent very much and thinks he is a great director, and his work “perfect person” is also a classic that cannot be surpassed. But he still tried hard to set up many obstacles that embarrassed Jorgen so that Jorgen could catch himself. He thinks that Jorgen is bound by his shackles of himself. He often pretends to be an observer. At the same time, he has something that he deliberately avoids, such as his unwillingness to go to the wrong place and his unwillingness to shoot dying children in the slums. Once he became a director who produced classic works, he was unwilling to “destroy” his films. But these five obstacles are an outstanding attempt, an exploration, and an opportunity to eliminate the shackles.
