Five Obstructions

Obstruction1:

Jorgen went to Mumbai and set up a transparent white cloth in the red light district. In front of this white cloth, Jorgen is wearing a delicate suit, eating western food, and drinking wine gracefully. Behind the white cloth stood people from the slums of India. They were ragged, and their eyes were empty. They were like two worlds with the people in front of the white step, which undoubtedly showed the misery of this place.

I saw a lot of self-transcendence in this film. Lars appreciates Jorgen’s talent very much and thinks he is a great director, and his work “perfect person” is also a classic that cannot be surpassed. But he still tried hard to set up many obstacles that embarrassed Jorgen so that Jorgen could catch himself. He thinks that Jorgen is bound by his shackles of himself. He often pretends to be an observer. At the same time, he has something that he deliberately avoids, such as his unwillingness to go to the wrong place and his unwillingness to shoot dying children in the slums. Once he became a director who produced classic works, he was unwilling to “destroy” his films. But these five obstacles are an outstanding attempt, an exploration, and an opportunity to eliminate the shackles.
