Ken Saengkla – Title: Imaginary World In His Mind

Concept

The concept of this diptych project is an imaginary world where one imagines something else in his mind while his physical body still exists in reality, but his soul and mind are in the world that he had created in his mind. Basically, it’s a guy standing in a busy city with many constructions and people around him. He looks up at the sky, wanting to rest, escape from reality, and be in his imaginary world. He then created his world in his mind and saw himself there instead of in the real world. It’s like one person zoning out, having their thought somewhere else; this is the same case but with more imagination rather than just logical or rational thinking. It’s a bit more fantasy and imaging world-like. The main point of this concept is the guy himself, the real world, and the imaginary world in his head. And these two different images play a role in showing the world; the one on the top shows the reality where he lives, and the one at the bottom is the upside-down world which shows an imaginary world of his with dream-like colors portrait.

Process in staging and photographing part I.

The model or a guy will be standing at the side of the photograph, and the light will be more in daylight time. The position of all the objects and other factors in the picture will be staged differently, not by moving the objects but by changing the place or angle of the camera to take those photographs for a better composition.

Process in creating part II image.

First of all, the photograph of this image is nighttime to be the opposite side of the daytime photograph that will be used for image part I. The light used is yellow-orange light, which focuses more on the model with the contrast of the dark-blue sky in the image. The processes of making it is changing a bit of color of the image, adding the castle picture, adding more clouds from my photos gallery, and lastly, many pedals, which have been added lastly to create more elements before arranging it nicely to lead eyes to an edited castle up the above the sky.

Conclusion

I didn’t encounter many problems during this project; everything went smoothly. And if I have time, I would like to add more elements to the second image so that I can edit and manipulate it more freely; I feel like there’s a lot I could play with and improve in the second image. As for the first one, I think everything is already great just the way it is now; I wouldn’t want to change anything after all.
