Diptych Concept Assignment due March 6, 11:59PM
1. What is the overall concept for the Diptych? What are you trying to convey?
– For my diptych, I would like to convey the concept of uncanny desolation, a picture/environment devoid of people but is still left in tack/not in ruins. The environment will still have objects in them, most likely items that standout with their color compared to the rest of the environment. I will also most likely add dolls or some kind of humanoid form into the diptych as well in order to achieve the effect of human desolation even more, as well as an uncanny feel to the pictures as well.
2. For the Diptych project, one cannot exist without the other. i.e. The existence of both images complete the project. One is only a partial information. What kind of conversation do the two images create and assist each other to convey the concept together?
– As previously mentioned, the pictures of places are to be used to convey desolation and can be taken has having a hint of uncanniness. The pictures of dolls/humanoid figures will be used to convey uncanniness more.
3. What image(s) do you plan to take photos of?
– I plan on taking a variety of photos of places that should appear to have people around but do not, with the lighting to reflect the desolate feel. I also plan on taking still lives of dolls or something with a humanoid figure to add into those places. I will probably take additional photos to add towards the uncanny desolate feel that are places or dolls.
4. How do you plan to manipulate the image(s) using Photoshop?
– I plan to firstly edit the lighting/saturation/contrast and spot heal away people to better fit with the desolate feel, in which then I will add in the dolls and try my best to get them to fit into the environment by adjusting their respective lighting/saturation/contrast and sizing.
