Project Title: Synesthesia Artist: Andy Ye & Jason Xia Instructor: Margaret Minsky Idea we want to create a project consists of interaction between motors, LEDs, and button. The project lies in a scenario when a man want to cross a road. Andy think this project can be a simulation of an equipment helping disable people crossing the road. And I added that it may simply works as a decoration and educates children the road manners. We will decide the function after we complete most of it. Sketch We discussed how we can implement the movement of the puppet. … [Read more...] about Midterm Project: Proposal

instructions: https://wp.nyu.edu/shanghai-ima-interaction-lab/recitation-3-workout/ soldering the tilt switch to long cables build the circuit I first mistook the circuit diagram. I thought the tilt switch and the capacitor were not connected. The output looked like this: And this is the circuit after I fixed the problem. Videos shows the output changes according to the rotation of tilt switch. Step 4 task1's video: Step 4 task2's video: Step4 task3's video: Step5 I add a potentiometer to my circuit and I can set the … [Read more...] about Documentation3

Instruction:https://wp.nyu.edu/shanghai-ima-interaction-lab/recitation-2-arduino-basics-2/ Task0: Preparation: Task1: Fading: The task is not difficult. I built the circuit and find code in the example. The code uses an iterator of a for loop to control the illuminance of the LED. Task2: toneMelody The task is to create a circuit which can play a piece of melody. It is not difficult. Following the instructions, I built the circuit and upload the code I found in the example. I moved the code in the setup() to the loop(), so it can play the music … [Read more...] about Recitation2: Documentation

the veldt: the walls can connect to the Internet, so the walls can also simulate people elsewhere. The machine is designed partially for psychological research. It is important to study social communications in the realm of psychology. And I think researchers should develop this function. The pattern left will definitely look different if they can experience the fantasy and make friends with people from other places. The fiction already shows the danger of addiction to the lively digital world. I'm afraid with the function installed, children would be more addicted to the walls. The Ones … [Read more...] about Group Research: Reading

1.Research: what is interaction? "Action" with a prefix of "inter", shows that it is a mutual action that requires "subjective" thinking on both sides. By saying "subjective thinking", I'm actually differentiating "interaction" and "reaction". After receiving the other side's actions, one side can think, whether programmed or through electrical waves in brain, and respond to the other side alternately. This thinking-responding model constitutes a positive feedback loop, where both sides can find meanings or feel interested and carry on the interactive process. There are differences among … [Read more...] about Interactive Lab–Group Research
