The group project is my first project in my college journey. It was so fun and inspiring and I’ve learned a lot from it.
IDEA
We first had a discussion together and put forward all the 12 ideas we’ve got individually. And finally we decided to combine Vivian’s idea of a brain activity recording device (p1) with my idea of the planet simulator.(p2) So we came up with the idea of a pair of badass glasses — a pair of glasses that enables people to record and share their dreams. Also, the badass glasses is used with a globe scanning machine which helps tailor the dreams according to different characters.
The glasses and the scanner we created allow the user to re-experience the dream but we leave the altering of the dream/hallucination to the user. For example, in the Matrix dream we present, different people made different choices and thus went through different storylines, which caters to my definition of “interaction”- the users themselves are part of the story.

Scene 1
Conversation between A and B. Main content is A dreamed about ___. B wanted to experience A’s dream. A says she will make B’s wish come true the next day.
A: I dreamed about 基努李维斯（Keanu Reeves） yesterday. He is soooo handsome. This was like the best dream I could ever have.
B: God, I love him!!! He’s exactly my type!!! How come I’ve never dreamed of him?? I wanna see your dream.
A: You know what. My friend just gave me a pair of glasses for my birthday gift. I think it can do you the favor.
( A goes to sleep wearing glasses at night)
Perform the dream.
Matrix lines
M-Morpheus; N-Neo
M: (hands in fists) Do you want to know…What it is?
N: (nod, curious)（小人）
M: The Matrix is everywhere. It is everywhere. Even now in this room, you can see it when you look at your window, or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work, when you go to church, when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes, to blind you from the truth.
N: What truth?
M: (lean forward) That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else, you were born into bondage, born into a prison that you can not smell or taste or touch. A prison for your mind.
(lean back)(sigh) Unfortunately no one can be told what the matrix is.
(open the box) You have to see it for yourself.
(M lean forward, N lean backward)
M: This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, You stay in wonderland. And I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.
N: A takes the blue pill? A wakes up in the morning : “What a near miss! I almost got lost in the dream!”

One thing that needs to be improved is that we failed to make a scanner at a real human’s size, which made our performance less impressive.
COMMENTS ON OTHER GROUPs
The performance of “life tracker “impressed me a lot, the performance was well-designed and their artifacts were delicate.
But one thing in their design provoked my thoughts: Is it really a good thing to have a “life tracker”, telling you what to do at each and every stage of our life? Is the life tracker giving us suggestions or just controlling us? Are we still we when being controlled or we start to become a “computer of the computer”?
In all, this project gives me a great chance to think about how we are going to be like in the future and how should we react, cooperate and interact with everything around us.
