Pick Your Memory

The piece of memory I chose took place in Bali Island, Indonesia, where I went scuba-diving. As I dived into the water, where gravity seems to lose its grip and time slows down, the entire marine realm unfolds before me, revealing crystal-clear aqua blue water and shimmering schools of fish. The silence of this submerged world was punctuated by the sooth sound of my breath, until it started drizzling above the ocean surface.

As I reluctantly resurface, I hurried back to the cottage near the beach, as it began to pour and the thunder rumbled. The chilling wind howled outside and pounded on the window, so I decided to light a match and soon warmth emanated from the fireplace. Then, I boiled water to cook dinner. The comforting sound of flame and bubbling water diffused the cozy room and remained etched in my mind.

In this project, I intend to add the sound of wind chimes, seagulls and waves breaking against the reef to create a serene atmosphere. Additionally, I will apply fading, panning techniques to indicate the shifting scale of rain and equalizers, delay and reverb effects to make the sound underwater more authentic.
