Concept & Story
The concept of this project was to try and convey the difficulty of answering the question what is home? I was inspired to make this project because for me it is difficult to answer the question when someone asks me. I have lived in many places in my life and have grown up all around the world so when somebody asks me I cant really answer it. I want to explore this topic to give get the experiences of other people who have also grown up in many different places around the world, to show how difficult it can be for people to answer this seemingly simple question.
Creation Process & Execution
I knew from the start that a quick cut interview style video would be a good way to convey this idea, that way by using the interview format the viewer could see the people and hear their experiences. One challenge I faced during the content creation was the audio collection because of the differences in settings the background noise in some of the audio clips is extremely uneven and trying to take out the background noise in one of the clips was extremely challenging. For the editing process we chopped up the video clips to be very quick and made them go from one answer to the other quickly. After I had the video clips edited together I put all the audio in audition to try and even it out as best I could.
Collaboration
My roll was mainly focused on the editing of the video clips as well as recording some of the interviews. I appreciate the voice over that Sara did because it sounds very much like a narration and very professional. The collaboration helped with bouncing ideas off of each other especially to help when we were struggling with creative ideas and editing ideas. It also helped with informing the questions that we asked our interviewees.
Aesthetics & Results
I think that the pace of the video is really good because it is while it is fast paced it drives the idea of how fast the idea of home can change, or someones perception of the world is constantly changing. The second half of the video slows down and begins to explain more so the idea that we are trying to get through to the audience. In the second half we put the voiceover with video of different peoples ideas of home and then someone contemplating, showing the though process that goes behind the question What Is Home?
