soundscape documentation

Concept:

For this assignment, I chose a high school memory as I mentioned before. In my soundscape, I aimed to convey the feelings of excitement, and apprehension in that moment. The thought process behind my composition involved recreating the emotional atmosphere and the audial elements that stood out, like chaos.

Process:

During the editing process, I faced challenges in achieving the right balance between different sounds. Mixing, for instance, required careful adjustment. I also had to remove some background noise to make the soundscape more immersive. In terms of compromises, I decided to focus on the core elements of laughter and whispers, as including too many sounds could have made the composition overwhelming.

Learnings from this project include the importance of subtlety in sound design and the need for careful mixing. I also gained a deeper understanding of the emotional impact of sound in storytelling.

Conclusion:

If I had more time, I would refine the transitions between different sounds to make them even more seamless and engaging. However, there were suggestions for exploring more ambient sounds, like the hum of fluorescent lights or distant voices, to enhance the realism.

The feedback has encouraged me to further refine my work, potentially by adding more layers to the soundscape to create a richer and more immersive experience for the audience. It also reinforced the idea that the soundscape has the potential to transport the listener into the moment and evoke specific emotions effectively.
