Tai Chi —- the combination of Yin & Yang
Tai Chi, a traditional Chinese phylosophy. Rotating, it breeds the heaven and earth. Power is invisible, but we could feel it. Somehow, I would like to share different patterns of that power field. Tai Chi is formless, its power field is also formless, however, we could expand our imagination towards it and discover the magnificent outcomes it provides.
I. Central Power Field
In this pattern, we can clearly identify the particles coming out from the center, representing the power that it gives off.
II. Edging to Intro & Extro Power Field
As we can figure out that the particles in central power field may cover on the Tai Chi pattern, I moved to the next step, making the particles start from the edge of the outline of the pattern by changing the for loop in setup session into the picture below.
The final visualization is satisfying, however, as the speed is randomly generated, the particles may still move to the inner part. Honestly speaking, the covering up of the particles can reveal the process of how the movement of Tai Chi affects the movement of the particles.
III. Power Field in four directions
In case the particles moving inside, I iritated once more.
Now you can notice the particles flew in four directions but aren’t going inside. That is a great jump though a little bit dumb……
Reflection
· The Tai Chi pattern itself
It was supposed to be in the class function, but considered that it contains sinValue and cosValue, if it is put in update(), it will only generate once. So, it was finally put into the draw function directly. And it turned out to be like this.
· The iteration of different Power Fields
The whole process was surrounded by how to make the particles be floating outside the circle but not inside. Mutiple changes brought multiple outcomes and quite a few made a shocking view. The key to success is keep exploring!!!
· Particles
Several aspects could be improved. At first, the idea of using noise function popped up in my mind, because I intended to create smoke or so called qi in the background, so I went through the references but to find it mosaic and vague not like the light silk-like smoke. This is where I should go deeper.
· Speed
It is weird that when the amount of particles added, the rotating speed of the Tai Chi pattern is slowing down. Wonder why……
UPDATE!!!
By professor Marcela’s help, I successfully figured out how to make the particles march outside the pattern rather than run into the pattern.
