Compare the Nato and the EU text:
Both text discuss about the prediction of the future wars, however, they predicts in different ways and the story they tell have quite different senses. Conflicts to Come. 15 Scenarios for 2030 gives a prediction of 15 scenarios of what may happen in the future and classify them into chapters based on the different particular feature scenarios have. Small Wars Journal Warfare 2030 – 2050 just tells stories based on the development of modern technology which are predictable and more realistic in the future that can be used in the war and also put emphasis on the international communications, in which personal affections are also included to make the story more diversify.
So the difference from my perspective here is not just about the story they tell but also the way of telling the story. For the first one, it clearly state the assumptions for that background while the second one just introduce the technology and weapons during that time and the story begins. The second one also mainly focuses in the form of chatting and generates a feeling of a real-time story to give readers more sense of intimacy while the first one tells stories in a description way to let readers understand the story as an omniscient perspective. As the second one uses chatting format, it also has names of specific people involved with their different backgrounds and social identities. However, the first one just describes what is happening and how does this influences others with no specific people involved, which means only country and areas in a broad sense are discussed in the stories it tells.
Two questions:
- What do you think of the statement “History is littered with mistaken predictions about the future of warfare”?
- Do you think the technology mentioned in the book Small Wars Journal Warfare 2030 – 2050 that human performance enhancement pills will really strengthen the human ability?
