Diptych Concept
• What is the overall concept for the Diptych? What are you trying to convey?
As for the overall concept for my Diptych, I am trying to convey different scenery from different places to create a dreamlike space, expressing a kind of illusion with fancy scenes and colors.
• For the Diptych project, one cannot exist without the other. i.e. The existence of both images complete the project. One is only a partial information. What kind of conversation do the two images create and assist each other to convey the concept together?
In my opinion, the first image is the background of the whole artwork. As for the second image, I will only cut some parts from the previous image and then stick them to the right place. For example, if there is an architecture on the background, I will cover the architecture by the cuts on the second image, and then use Photoshop to deal with the color and the edge to assist the elements to convey the concept together. Finally, the two images will create a scene combining different gorgeous scenery together, which will reflect the comparison and mix of our living environment.
The picture that I choose is the Customs Building in Shanghai, which represents an ancient and elegant symbol of the whole city. The artwork designed with Photoshop creates a new image with different colors of sky, some trees and other plants, etc., which will make it more dynamic and prosperous. The final artwork tells a story about a small kingdom and their wonderland based on castle (the building).
• What image(s) do you plan to take photos of?
I plan to take photos of several kinds of scenery in different places, and I will try to combine them with some of the elements in the pictures.
• How do you plan to manipulate the image(s) using Photoshop?
First of all, I will choose an image of scenery as the background. Then I will choose some other photos that have a relationship with the previous background. I will try to take some representative elements from those pictures (using Photoshop to cut them). Apart from that, I will use Photoshop to stick those elements to the background and mix them perfectly by drawing or adding some other things.
