I chose to build a corpus of journals, which contains 950 images from weibo and google.
Introduction:
The “Journal” I’m talking about is a term comes from Japan, which is called ζεΈ γ¦γ‘γγ. As far as I know, it is a kind of small notebook that Japanese people carry around to record or plan their lives. This is what it is originally, and it has evolved into a richer culture through its spread between different countries over time.
It’s really hard to write a definition for journals, since it’s a very inclusive culture. Probably it is a system of notebooks that people form with various styles to plan or record their lives. (When I wrote that sentence, I was already aware of its one-sidedness). It comes in various forms and contents: paper-based, digital, painting, stickers, pure text, pure decoration, plan of meetings, record of dreams … Anyway, it’s very likely that you are already a part of the journal community that planning things or recording them in your style.
Meaning:
I’ve been writing journals for about 5 years. I will almost certainly carry a journal with me everyday.
Journals has changed my perspective on life. I’m not going to go too far, just show you some images of my journals:
daily diary
plan for final
five year diary
weekly plan
entertainment plan
As you can see, the journals are very diverse in form, but there is also a kind of similarity. Therefore, I’m curious what the generated journals will look like.
