As NYU’s Summer Publishing Institute entered its third week, students were invited to visit magazine and digital media companies to get an inside glimpse of their offices, missions, and methods for engaging audiences. In groups of 15 or so, SPIers headed off to visit Travel + Leisure, The Daily Beast, Rachael Ray Every Day, The Hive at Vanity Fair, and The Paris Review. We asked student Francesca Cocchi to report on her group’s visit to The Paris Review and student Nina Rodríguez-Marty to tell us about The Daily Beast. The NYU M.S. in Publishing: Digital and Print Media program is honored to have so many outstanding alumni. Among other things, they show us that our career goals are obtainable. In this blog post, Jillian Q. Gatcheco shares with us her experience at NYU and where life has taken her since she completed her studies. Jillian, an international student from the Philippines, graduated in 2012 and was the Recipient of the William Randolph Hearst Endowment for Magazine Media scholarship for excellence in magazine publishing.
