For our latest “Alumni Spotlight,” we would like to tell you about Christina Quintero, who graduated from NYU’s MS Publishing: Digital & Print Media program in 2010. She was awarded the Oscar Dystel Fellowship for demonstrating a strong command of her academic studies as well as remarkable creativity, inventive ideas, and dedication to a career in book publishing. She currently works as the Executive Art Director of Licensing and Intellectual Property at Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. Her favorite book as a child was Roald Dahl’s Matilda. Alumni Spotlight: An International Student’s Story
Andrés Rubiano came to the United States from his native Colombia in 2009 and enrolled in the MS in Publishing: Digital and Print Media program in 2012. Discovering a niche in the digital marketplace, he created a website for young, hip Latinos that became the basis of his Capstone. AlphaRevista.com is now a major focus of his life—that is, when he is not working as a web editor for People en Español. Rubiano is also the sports reporter for the brand’s TV Show, People VIP. Did we mention that he played professional soccer back home in Colombia and is still obsessed? MS in Publishing student Natalia Mosquera interviews Andrés about breaking into the Latin American publishing market, growing his own brand, and how to love what you do every day.

“How I Got My Job” Panel: Alumni Give Students the Inside Scoop
How do I make a great impression during a job interview? Once I meet a professional contact, how should I keep in touch? What’s the best way to leverage my experiences from NYU’s Master’s in Publishing: Digital and Print Media? How do I find my dream job?
These questions are always on the minds of our MS in Publishing: Digital and Print Media students. To get the inside scoop, the NYU Publishing Students Association hosted an alumni panel discussion, “How I Got My Job,” featuring five recent M.S. in Publishing: Digital and Print Media graduates. The alumni shared career stories, provided professional advice, and fielded questions to give current students a real look at what it takes to enter—and succeed—in the publishing industry.
