Shhh! We have a few secrets to tell about some distinguished media leaders joining our esteemed MS in Publishing: Digital and Print Media faculty. Fortunately, one of them did not listen to a Cambodian tribal boss, and another keeps her sword at home. Intrigued? We might add that their bios are interesting, too! Read on to meet some new faces students will meet during the spring and summer semesters in the classroom:
Gregory Gatto (Media Advertising) is Vice President and Publishing Director of Bonnier Corp., where he is responsible for strategy, positioning, team building, revenue generation, financial planning, partnerships, sales operations, and related policies. He has also been an Account Executive, Southeast and Mid-Atlantic Territories; National Endemic Sales Director, Eastern Sales Manager; National Endemic and Online Sales Director; and Advertising Director for Field & Stream, Outdoor Life, and SHOT Business. Prior to joining Bonnier, he held positions at McCann-Erickson, Saatchi & Saatchi, and MEC New York. Gregory received his degree from State University of New York at Buffalo.
Greg is an electrician and handyman, and can fix or build just about anything.
Gina Lee (Mobile Media Platforms and Practices) is an award-winning, user centric and data driven product leader, driving technology teams to build products that transform digital businesses. She is currently the Director of Product for Condé Nast Traveler, and has 14 years of experience in digital product development with media and technology companies such as Time Inc., Ziff Davis Media, and Accenture. Gina is an expert in planning, designing, and implementing new digital products. She models product opportunities to assess market viability and business impact, and has implemented metrics and tracking to understand how users are interacting with products. Gina holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Global Business, and Digital Marketing from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
Gina is an advocate for working parents in the workplace. She started a support group for moms at Condé Nast with a fellow NYU Adjunct Instructor, Sarah Rowe. Together they will be hosting a Moms in Tech and Media meetup at SXSW this March.
Max Minckler (Web Analytics) is the Assistant Director of Digital Marketing for Random House Publishing Group at Penguin Random House, where he leads the marketing analytics and consumer insights program. He works with marketing, publicity, and editorial teams across Random House imprints to provide data-driven audience insights, digital campaign strategy, social media listening, and innovative technology solutions for Random House brands and authors, including Lee Child, George R.R. Martin, Danielle Steel, Anna Quindlen, and Billy Collins. His experience also includes editorial and analytics positions at Disney Interactive and RiffleBooks.com. Max received his M.A. from Durham University.
Max was asked to sell his fiancée to a Cambodian tribal leader while backpacking in Southeast Asia, but he decided against it.
Jessica Pels (Editing Creative Content) is Site Director for Marie Claire at Hearst Magazines, where she oversees all editorial for MarieClaire.com and its social media platforms and manages a team of seven editors. She has also been Features Editor and Online Deputy Editor for Teen Vogue and Editorial Director for the interactive shoppable digital publication I Like What You’re Wearing; she has held several positions at Glamour; and she has worked for The New Yorker and Vogue. Jessica was the 2016 recipient of the FIPP Rising Star in Media Award and the Hearst Spotlight Award, and earned her degree from NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
Jessica can open a champagne bottle with a sword—or a butter knife.
Jesseca Salky (Contract Negotiation) is a literary agent and partner at Hannigan Salky Getzler (HSG) Agency, and a intellectual property lawyer and partner at Lyons & Salky Law, LLP. As an agent, Jesseca represents New York Times bestselling and Pulitzer Prize winning author Anne Tyler, whose 20th novel, A Spool of Blue Thread, was short-listed for the Man Booker Prize. Jesseca received her J.D. from Fordham Law School and as an attorney does legal work for authors, publishers, agents and other publishing industry professionals who need a legal perspective.
Jesseca is married to a New York City firefighter, which has given her an inside insight to, and deep appreciation of, the heroic (and highly domesticated!) brotherhood that is the FDNY.
