This semester, we had almost a dozen internships for students to participate in, from running NYU Prague’s Instagram to being a mentor at some of Prague’s elementary schools. Read on to hear some of the highlights of our student’s internship experiences!
NYU Prague Instagram:
“Going all over Osadní dorm to create a dorm tour video early in the morning, so that there would be nobody to make it look amazing and show the best dorm.”
NYU Prague Blog:
“Writing the Masopust article and recalling all of our chicken memories and finding photos from that day.”
“My favorite memory was going to the first cat cafe in Old Town with other people as part of my cat cafe series! It was also really fun seeing the other two cat cafes and writing my article on it.”
NYU Prague Cast:
“Walking through a park to interview Prague locals. Getting turned away was humbling but funny.”
Prague Elementary:
“Playing Simon Says with the kids. After the game they came up to give us hugs and high fives.”
“My favorite memory is learning all of the children’s names and things they enjoyed. They were so sweet and curious! I did a presentation for them on my life and they were so curious and asked so many questions! I’m so grateful for this experience!”
“My favorite memory with the kids was teaching them about Passover. We gave them kippahs and matzah to try, and they were so excited to learn about and be immersed in Jewish culture.”
“My favorite memory from my internship is watching the kids’ presentations about themselves. I gave one about my life that they asked many sweet questions about and then they were asked to make ones of their own. They spoke so well and gave me the drawings after. It was adorable and my heart was so full seeing how excited they were to share.”
Human Rights Club:
“Taking the initiatives for the Human Rights Concert. I arranged the Ukrainian piece for our Jazzish ensemble. I also had to find a Ukrainian singer to feature on the piece, and found an incredible singer who is also performing at our final concert. I’m used to just being a performer, not organizing anything, so this was a great experience for me with an even greater impact. The concert as a whole was to encourage people to come to our fundraising event, and I’m glad it succeeded–we raised over 10,000 Kč!”
YOUrope:
“Meeting with Patricia and her friend for coffee and having the most interesting and educational conversation about Czech governmental and political tendencies, and what problems we are directly seeing after as young Europeans.”
Institute of Documentary Film:
“My best memory is when I was doing little presents for the people who were attending the festival. And the second one is when I was watching the discussion of the one Jewish film, which is absolutely great and I hope to see it in the cinema someday.”
“Going up to the lecturer at East Doc forum and asking him to watch rough cut for one of my films. He said yes and gave revolutionary feedback. So grateful for the opportunity to work at a great festival.”
