About the Staff 2023

The NYU Prague Blog is a student run blog, created to let those back home keep tabs on our unique and wonderful adventures. Every semester, a new student group records their personal encounters in the Czech Republic and Europe. It serves as a how-to guide, a diary, a restaurant handbook, and a travel log.

NYU Prague is one of New York University’s 14 global sites. It was opened in 1998 and initially focused on the post-communist transition that the country was going through, with a faculty including many dissidents who helped overthrow the Czech Communist regime.

Meet The Team (Fall 2023)!

Ed Pena (Editor)

Ed Pena is a third-year at NYU studying Environmental Studies, Creative Writing, and Journalism. He is from North Carolina and works to bring together his skills in storytelling and environmental advocacy to bring about positive change. Outside of school, he loves writing, music, and talking way too much about Star Wars.

Anna Kozachuk ( Staff Writer)

Anna Kozachuk is a non-degree student at NYU Prague and a full-degree student at Ukrainian university majoring in Journalism, Advertising, and Public Relations. Since 2022, NYU Prague has become her second home and a place of inspiration, where she met so many talented people from all over the globe. Anna is keen on writing and recording videos because, in her opinion, they are a great way to save the brightest moments of her student years. 🙂

Jae Jin (Graphic Designer)

Jae Jin is a third-year Gallatin student studying Design & Digital Media. She was born in North Carolina and moved to New York City for more opportunities in her field. She is excited to gain more inspiration from studying abroad! When she’s not designing, you can find her making fan art for her favorite anime, reading, or playing with her pet cat Nuke.

Leah Gaffen (Staff Supervisor)

Leah Gaffen has been working at NYU Prague since 2001 and helped students start the blog in 2016. Originally from Arlington VA, she moved to Prague in the 1990s and fell in love with the city of 100 spires. Outside of NYU she and her husband teach master classes on Czech marionette construction.
