Guest Policy

Short-term Guests

Provided there is no unreasonable interference with the rights of a roommate, students can have “short-term” guests (i.e. a guest who is not staying overnight) at any time of day.

Short-term guests must leave by 12 midnight. Students are asked not to have large social gatherings in their suites or apartments.
Guests must sign in with the guard and leave ID.

Overnight Guests

Resident may have overnight guests. In the interest of the rights of the roommates and other apartment residents, there are limits to the duration and frequency of the visits:

• A resident may have no more than 2 overnight guests at one time.
• A resident may have an overnight guest no more than 3 consecutive nights.
• A resident can have overnight guests for no more than 6 nights per calendar month.
There is a limit to the number of guests in each building at any given time. If you are planning to have guests, you should submit the guest form(s) to the dorm staff as soon as possible to ensure that they can stay. The forms are available with the residence hall staff/guards – check dorm-specific info in the Housing section.

Overnight Guest Form

Resident must fill out an OVERNIGHT GUEST FORM with a security guard at least 24 hrs prior to guest’s check in. Resident’s roommates and suitemates must sign the overnight guest form and give consent. Guests must sign in and leave an ID number (passport, national ID) with the guard upon check in. The Overnight Guest Form must be also signed by residence hall staff.

Please note:

exclamation mark symbolAll guests (both short term and overnight guests) are expected to abide by all University and Residence Life policies and procedures. The host is responsible for the actions of his/her guests at all times. The guest must not infringe on the comfort or rights of the other residents and must maintain an appropriate level of safety and security in the residence hall or apartments. Please note that a list of reasonably priced hotels and hostels for your guest is available in NYU Prague handbook. If you do not adhere to these guest policies, you risk losing all guest privileges. Also, the Building Manager and/or the Resident Assistant (RA) can expel a guest who is not registered or who is behaving inappropriately at any time of day or night. NYU students studying at other NYU sites have to comply with the same regulations as the non-NYU guests. NYU Prague students are responsible for their guests following these regulations.
