Start your own student club!
Clubs are a great way for you to get involved, do what you like and make new friends while you’re in Prague! Here’s how you can start your own:
Start a New Club
NYU Prague Clubs start by applying through online application.
Applications are reviewed by the NYU Prague staff, who then determine which applicants can move forward with their club. They will respond with feedback and confirmation that the club can start their meetings and activities.
Guidelines
Good Conduct:
Every club or society must act in a manner befitting the student community and using privileged resources in a way that most equitably and efficiently uses student resources to benefit not just the club, but the student body at large as well.
Club Guidelines
Student-led clubs are an important and respected aspect of student life at NYU Prague. With respect to the student community that these clubs serve, all student-led clubs are held to certain expectations to retain their status on campus. Below are a few key guidelines that are important for all members of the community to keep in mind.
Membership Rule:
All Clubs should have a Club Leader. Clubs will hold meetings (in-person or virtual) at least every three weeks.
Events Rule:
- Clubs must hold at least three events per semester that are open to the entire NYU Prague student body.
- Members should work independently and are responsible for organizing their events but an RA assigned to the club can assist with translations, payment, printing, and bookings.
Visible Impact:
- Every club must make an effort to have well-publicized events and have an impact on the NYU Prague community. Clubs can email their material to prague-programing@nyu.edu to be included in the Sunday Scoop newsletter and on the All You Need to Know page.
Budget and Funding
All funding requests for Club related activities will be reviewed on an ad-hoc basis. Neither the NYU Prague nor the University itself can provide a specific budget to Clubs at this time.
Initial Allocation and/or Supplemental Funding CAN be used for:
- Catering
- Supplies, decorations, etc.
- Off-campus events, with prior approval from the Student Life team
- Prizes (which must be validated by the Student Life team)
Initial Allocation and/or Supplemental Funding CANNOT be used for:
- Alcohol or other drugs
- Gifts for participants, presenters, or advisors including t-shirts and gift-cards
- Direct donations to charity organisations
Funds management
- Clubs must send all money/payment requests at least 1 week in advance to Thea Favaloro (tf17)
- Clubs must manage their own budget and keep records of their spending on their allocated budget spreadsheet.
- If cash is requested and approved, clubs will collect it from Jitka Kalašová (jk1007) before the event after arranging a time with her.
- Clubs must keep all receipts and return them to Jitka
- Failure to submit requests in time and to return receipts will result in money access being stopped
Application process
