Orientation Week Cultural Events

Signing up

  • You can signup through the link that will appear on the signup page on Thursday, Jan 15 at 9 p.m.
  • You can sign up for one cultural event. 
  • Double signups will be deleted and you cannot sign up for your friends.
  • Please use your NYU Email address to sign up. 
  • Spots fill out fast, so make sure to be ready at 9 pm. 
  • Please make sure that the events you signed up for do not overlap with other events, mandatory or optional. 
  • If you find out you cannot attend the event after you sign up, let us know at least 24 hours in advance by emailing prague-programing@nyu.edu, so that your spot can be offered to other students. 
  • In case you do not attend an event you signed up for and do not find a replacement, it will be considered as a no-show. Two no-shows result in a ban on attending any future NYU Prague sponsored trips and events. 

Cultural Events:

Theatre: Senses, Sunday Jan 18 at 5:15 pm

A show by one of Prague’s most popular theatre companies. Their shows combine incredible acrobatics, dance, physical theatre, fantastic live music (think Cirque de Soleil). Takes place in a former slaughterhouse transformed into an arts space near the Osadní  dorm. Partially in Czech but extremely visual with great music.
65 minutes


Opera: Barber of Seville, Tuesday Jan 20 at 6:30 pm

Rossini’s comic opera at the beautiful National Theatre.  In Italian with English surtitles.
2 hours and 40 minutes with 1 intermission.

Make sure this does not conflict with your classes!


Ballet: Sheherazade, Friday, January 23 at 6:30 pm

The Italian choreographer Mauro Bigonzetti created this new ballet based on Arabian Nights for the Czech National Ballet.  Takes place at the at the beautiful National Theatre. 1 hour + 20 minutes, no intermission. 

Do not sign up for this event if you are going on the Machova weekend trip.


Concert: Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra,Beethoven and Dvořák’s Eighth, Monday, January 26 at 6:45 pm

Ludwig van Beethoven: Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano arranged for accordion, mandolin and piano 
Antonín Dvořák: 
Symphony No. 8 in G Major . 
Concert will last approx. 90 minutes.
