Humans of Prague: Experience the Diversity

Wednesday August 28 at 5:30 – 7:30 pm in Havel Classroom, RD

Come meet members of various ethnic and minority groups living in Prague (Roma, Vietnamese, African, LGBTQ, Ukrainian) in an informal setting. Come to learn about their life stories and communities! You are very welcome to ask them questions and learn their stories.

Indian and Ukrainian food will be served!

Guest speakers: 

Diana Cam Van Nguyen 

Diana is a young and emerging Czech-Vietnamese filmmaker. She specializes in animated documentaries. She will screen her award-winning short film Mala, which explores the topic of what´s like growing up in foreign country looking different than most other people.

Ye Traore

Ye is from Mali, she has been living in the Czech Republic for 25 years. She lives in a small village near Prague, where she runs a shop offering African products and cosmetics. She studied biology. Her brother joined her in Prague which is a city they both love. She loves sharing her story and knowledge about Africa with people here in the Czech Republic.

Eda

She was born in Prague, lived in Austria, grew up in Israel, and moved back to Czechia after finishing her high school education in the Middle East. They currently reside in Ústí nad Labem and participate in local community activism and organizations, specifically in the Most Pride and Ústecký Pride collectives. They identify as queer and use she/they pronouns in English and the feminine grammatical gender in Czech.

Slávek Antonov

Slávek is a Ukrainian student from Kharkiv who dreamed of studying abroad — a dream that came true under the tragic circumstances of the war that began on February 24, 2022. Now, after a long period of adaptation integrated into Czech society, he is pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering and Communications while working as a technical consultant in the field of identity management and governance. With aspirations to become a cybersecurity expert, he hopes to protect the innocent from cybercrime.

Robin

Robin is a Romani activist from Prague with experience in advocating for the rights and empowerment of the Romani community. His work includes educating the Romani community about their rights in educational settings and leading emancipatory projects aimed at strengthening Romani identity, particularly among youth. Robin has also been involved in the documentary project Roma Femina which highlights the fundamental role of Romani women in the fight against racism and explores their unique experiences as Romani women.
