It is not an easy time. People around the world are getting sick and those who aren’t have to stay in quarantine. You’re home, and you need a distraction. Let us help:)
We prepared a list of 10 feel-good movies which will cheer you up a little. You don’t even need to own Netflix. These can be found in the Digital Swank Campus.
Amelie (2001)
Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Amelie is a delicious pastry of a movie, a lighthearted fantasy in which a winsome heroine overcomes a sad childhood and grows up to bring cheer to the needful and joy to herself. You see it, and later when you think about it, you smile. And this kind of a feeling everybody needs right now!

Annie Hall (1977)
Annie Hall contains more intellectual wit and cultural references than any other movie ever to win the Oscar for best picture. Did you know that in winning the award in 1977 it edged out Star Wars? After Annie Hall, the romcom was never the same again and Woody Allen redefined himself as a filmmaker. Fancying a classical movie? This one will do!

The Big Lebowski (1998)
This movie has everything. It involves kidnapping, ransom money, a porno king, a reclusive millionaire, a runaway girl, the Malibu police, a woman who paints while nude and strapped to an overhead harness. This is a plot and dialogue that perhaps only the Coen Brothers could have devised. The Big Lebowski will make you laugh even after 22 years it was produced.

BlacKkKlansman (2018)
BlacKkKlansman presents racism as a dichotomy between the absurd and the dangerous; the film’s intentional laughs often get caught in one’s throat. True story of an American hero plus amazing Adam Driver and John David Washington are all we need during quarantine time.

Forrest Gump (1994)
Forrest Gump, played by Tom Hanks, is a thoroughly decent man with an IQ of 75, who manages between the 1950s and the 1980s to become involved in every major event in American history. And he survives them all with only honesty and niceness as his shields. If this movie does not make you feel good then we don’t know what will. 🙂

Green Book (2018)
It’s pure formula, of course. Two men—one white, one black—from polar opposite backgrounds with wildly contrasting personalities get thrown together under unusual circumstances. They learn from each other, change each other for the better and discover that—guess what?—they’re not so different after all. Now is a good time to watch biggest surprise of last year’s Oscars.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001)
If you watched Sexual Education then you probably remember the scene where the main protagonists dress like Hedwig. This is the iconic movie that the TV series payed a homage to. The original movie tells a story about a transgender punk-rock girl from East Berlin that tours the U.S. with her band and follows the former lover/band-mate who stole her songs. Must see!

In Bruges (2008)
In Bruges is endlessly surprising, very dark, human comedy, with a plot that cannot be foreseen but only relished. This is certainly not a “feel-good” movie but prepare yourself to laugh hard if you love black humor. Caution: Ten people out of ten wanted to visit Bruges after seeing this movie.

School of Rock (2003)
If quirky, independent, grown-up outsider filmmakers set out to make a family movie, this is the kind of movie they would make. And they did. This cute movie is about the world’s least-employable heavy metal guitarist who starts a band with a bunch of tallented primary schoolers. Instant classic that will make you laugh and will also warm your heart.

Shakespeare in Love (1998)
This movie serves as a reminder that Will Shakespeare was once a young playwright on the make and that “Romeo and Juliet” must have been written by a man in intimate communication with his libido. When Shakespeare in love won the 1998 Oscars everybody was shocked. Wanna see why? Watch the movie! Btw. Did you know that Joseph Fiennes who plays Shakespeare also plays evil Mr. Waterford in Handmaid’s Tales?
