Music Picture – Final Projects of Students taking Aural Comprehension IV
by Cyrille Oswald
In order to provide a platform where active class participation could be enhanced in a remote teaching environment, the final weeks of the course also included a creative project entitled Music Picture.
It attempted to replace to a certain degree the musical practice which is inherent in an on-campus environment: discovering and integrating musical concepts by singing and playing collectively and individually.
The title refers to the analogy of a picture taken during an important life-event. Such a picture has the power to take one back to that period at any time later in life, instantly, with vivid memories.
All students were handed a reader with multiple musical concepts covered in class and were invited to write short melodies based on these ideas. A number of students found the time to submit a recording of their compositions.
This musical collage is the product of their work.
