Nov 26: Juwana Jenkins + United Heads + Mucha Concert in Jazz Dock
Charity concert in an amazing venue JazzDock which is located right on the river Vltava surface. Juwana Jenkins Soul that’s Motown-inspired, Stax-fired, rock-led and Philly-bred to funky grooves that move your shoes and lift your blues! United Heads Prague band United Heads became famous in the mid-1990s, for example the legendary hip-hop compilation album Real Acid Juice includes their song ‘Jazzy Da Blue.’ Mucha Nikola Mucha is a unique phenomenon on the Czech music scene. She has been performing since she was 15 years old, sometimes alone, sometimes surrounded by great musicians in the currently posh punk association Mucha. Nikola’s comments on life are straightforward, without unnecessary consideration for the listener’s sensibilities, her songs are provocative, but never stupid.

The exhibition presents awarded as well as some selected photographs from the 25th edition of the competition that ran under the same name. This year, almost 4.000 photographs from 270 photographers were judged. The pictures capture domestic as well as international events, countryside, daily life, people, art, and more. In total, the contest eight photographic categories and three video ones.
Until Feb 16: 1989 Exhibiton
How did Czech photographers and artists capture the year 1989? The exhibition in the Trade Fair Palace seeks to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution. It also seeks, in hindsight, to examine the year 1989, which was a turning point in many respects; not only for Czech society, but also for photography.
The year 1989 was exceptional not only in terms of political events, but also for the medium that recorded them – photography. In that year, several exhibitions commemorated the 150th anniversary of the official announcement of the discovery of photography. Nobody could know that following the revolution, which came soon after, a wave of interest in eastern European art would surge for a short time and Czech photography would be presented abroad at several exhibitions.

The „Russia. Timeless“ exhibition presents significant artistic statements from contemporary Russia, by the classics of formerly unofficial art such as Oskar Rabin, Lydia Masterkova, Ilya Kabakov, Dmitri Prigov, or Viktor Pivovarov, who has been living in Czechoslovakia since 1980s to artists who through their work express the feelings of a generation that has lived virtually its entire live under the current regime.

Until Dec 1: Alberto Giacometti’s Exhibition
The retrospective will present the works by one of the major 20th-century artists, sculptor and painter Alberto Giacometti (1901–1966) for the first time in the Czech milieu. His main theme was the human figure. He became well-known for compelling elongated figures done after World War II, but no less important are his artworks from the interwar period, when he was a key member of the Paris avant-garde. The selection of the exhibits from its collections, which will be shown in the Trade Fair Palace, includes more than one hundred sculptures (including rare originals of plaster), paintings and drawings from all Giacometti’s creative periods, from the 1920s to 1960s.

Contemporary dance is characterized by a distinctive blending of genres and a strong individual approach by each creator. Each lesson is led by a different artist, each bringing a slightly different view of contemporary dance.
