Bicycle Rentals

Bicycle Rentals in Madrid

Starting June 23, 2014, a public bike rental system called BiciMAD begins in Madrid. These bikes are electric but still conventionally operable, and have a battery life between 25 and 100 kilometers. The bikes weigh in at 23 kilos with an 18 inch wheel. Each is equipped with a GPS unit to deter theft. They will be available at 120 stations around the city at any time of day throughout the year.

Each bike anchoring displays details about that particular unit, and the TOTEM center of each station shows more general information. An app will be available to check the availability status at each station. The bike passes are available through 010, the offices of citizen services of the Ayuntamiento, the BiciMAD website, the mobile app and the bike stations.

There will be occasional and yearly access cards sold at the TOTEM center in each station:

The yearly abono: 25€, or 15€ for public transport cards.

With this abono, the first half hour: 50 cents, 60 cents for each following half hour up to two hours, and 4€ for each hour after two hours.

Passes for one, three and five days: The first hour costs 2€ and each hour after that is 4€.
