Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging
The Department of History is committed to creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning, teaching, and work environment. We believe that historical thinking stands at the heart of this endeavor. An understanding of past and ongoing forms of inequality and exclusion is essential to making anti-racism, religious tolerance, anti-sexism, and anti-bigotry central to a culture of excellence in the department. The Department maintains a Diversity Committee with members drawn from students, staff, and faculty.
Suggestion Box
To improve the graduate student experience as well as communication between graduate students and faculty, the History Department maintains an anonymous Suggestion Box where graduate students can register their comments, questions, and suggestions, and to alert department officers and administrators to issues and problems facing graduate students. All submissions are read by the Chair and Director of Graduate Studies, as well as by the Department Manager and Diversity Committee Co-Chair and Graduate Program Administrator.
