Archives and Public History Masters student, Jubilee Marshall, made it into the final round of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Threesis challenge. Master’s students from 25 difference Departments presented their research in only three minutes tailored to a non academic audience. On April 22, 2022 at 6:30pm the seven finalists will compete for a winner where attendees can vote for their favorites. Congrats Jubilee!

Congratulations to the 2022 Shryock Award Winner (Joe Bishop, MAH 2022)
Joe Bishop recently won the 2022 Shryock Award from the American Association for the History of Medicine. The Shryock Award honors an outstanding, unpublished essay on any topic in the history of medicine. Congratulations to Joe Bishop and all his hard work.
CUNY TV Highlights The Shady Historian (Beau Lancaster, APH 2022)
Archives & Public History student Beau Lancaster uses his Youtube channel The Shady Historian to educate the public about Black, queer and U.S. history. Recently CUNY TV highlighted Beau’s important work in a segment on Black and LQBTQ+ representation in historical narratives.
Black Burials in Philadelphia: A Walking Tour (Jubilee Marshall, APH 2022)
Before Jubilee Marshall was an Archives and Public History Masters student, she created a self-guided walking tour about Black burial grounds in Philadelphia. This project was Marshall’s undergraduate thesis at Villanova University. You can explore this walking tour from anywhere with audio recordings for each stop along the tour. Marshall received financial awards from Villanova University’s Center for Research and Fellowship and New York University’s Center for Digital Humanities for this project.
Urban Archive “City Story” on Shakespeare in the Park (Julia Butterfield, APH 2022)
Julia Butterfield (APH 2022) published a fascinating “City Story” on Urban Archive called “This Green Plot Shall Be Our Stage: Joe Papp and Shakespeare in the Park”. The story is presented on an interactive map and a treasure trove of photographs and interesting anecdotes.
